Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Dakota 50/50 Horse Sale and Futurity to promote quality performance horses that are good moving, good minded, athletic individuals, that have the capability to work and will look good when engaged in activities, while maintaining at all times the horses physical and mental potential.

It is further the purpose of the Dakota 50/50 Horse Sale and Futurity to provide an event that is enjoyable to spectators and will be beneficial to and promotional of the horse industry as a whole.

Breeder’s Incentive Money was paid to owners of the top 3 horses, with Marvin and Becky Gustafson collecting a check for $962.50 for the top horse; and Greg and Deb Stewart receiving checks for the second and third place horses totaling $962.50.

Marvin and Becky Gustafson also received jackets for their horses winning the over all conformation (DG Sie Chipin Time) and rail division (DG Investin Rocagirl). John Hovde received a jacket as the owner of the pattern division winner (OC Larks Rowdy).

Kim Kraft

A trophy saddle, sponsored by Gustafson Oil, Rolla, ND, went to top amateur showman, Kim Kraft, Rolette, ND. Austin Scholl, Menoken, ND was awarded a trophy buckle as the top youth rider, sponsored by Alkali Ranch, Deloraine, MB and Clay Ranch, Cartwright, MB.

Tracy Dalstad, Emerado, ND, was awarded the sportsmanship award, as voted on by her peers. Tracy was presented with a tooled bronc halter sponsored by Jess Bergum, Awl Cowgirl, Moorhead, MN.

Breeder’s Incentive Money was paid to owners of the top 3 horses, with Marvin and Becky Gustafson collecting a check for $962.50 for the top horse. The Gustafson's also received turn-out blankets for their horse's performance. The first blanket was for the owner of the Grand Champion horse, sponsored by S&N Tack, St. John, ND; the second was for the breeder of the Grand Champion Horse, sponsored by The Vet Shack of Towner, ND. 

Greg and Deb Stewart received checks for the second and third place horses totaling $962.50. John Hovde (right) received a turn-out blanket for the owner of the Reserve Champion Horse sponsored by Rolette State Bank, Rolette, ND

A sale of weanlings was held immediately following the futurity with 66 weanlings consigned by 35 members. The average increased about $100 over last year at $745. Invest O Rio Money, AQHA bay stallion, consigned by Kelly and Ruby Stuart of Eriksdale, MB topped the sale at $3000. Tamme Lachance, Egeland, ND was the buyer. KTS Im Famous, AQHA bay stallion,consigned by Keith and Stacey Thelen, was the second high seller at $2100. He finds a new home with Gary Wallin, Milnor, ND.

Weanlings sold in this sale will be eligible to compete for $19,690 in cash plus prizes at the 2009 Futurity.


Youth Awards

Langan Performance Horses sponsored participation awards for each youth contestant. Each youth received a mayatex blanket and a blanket carrier as an incentive in appreciation for their hard work, tenacity and to encourage them to continue to pursue their passion for horses.
